About Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical 2017

AutoCAD Electrical 2017 is the design software focusing on electrical controls, with options to develop and modify electrical control systems. The extensive libraries of symbols and tools assist in boosting productivity via automation of tasks related to control engineering.

One of the major introductions in AutoCAD Electrical 2017 new features, includes SQL Server support for user’s catalogue data. Now users are able to develop SQL Server instance and also perform migration of default catalogues as well as footprint databases of Microsoft Access directly to SQL Server instance.

Users can select an option of configuring SQL Server instance during installation of AutoCAD Electrical 2017 or decide to set up SQL Server directly from the product itself.

Deployment mode allows to establish connection with SQL Server instance that has been already created within user’s database/system administrator. Autodesk Content Migration Utility has been created specifically for AutoCAD Electrical toolset, and can be used for creation of an SQL Server instance with the same tool.

Standalone mode allows to perform configuration of SQL Server directly from the product itself. AECATALOGCONFIG command can be used for accessing the Configure Database dialog box, which allows user to connect and choose his/her catalogue as well as footprint databases directly on SQL Server instance.

Content Migration Utility has also been introduced in AutoCAD Electrical 2017 version and represents a lightweight migration tool based on GUI, which provides user with ability to develop AutoCAD Electrical toolset catalogue database (including footprint databases and catalogue) on SQL Server instance. This utility can also be used for migration of default catalogue data (in Microsoft Access tables format) to SQL Server instance.

If the project is linked to AutoCAD Inventor assembly in a form of an electromechanical project, then user is provided with an option produce Bill of Material report in a combined form. This option contains Inventor parts and can be accessed whenever a user generates Panel or Schematic Bill of Material report. When using the said option, all electrical parts of your Inventor assembly automatically become part of the report.
